When Queenie was at the God is an Astronaut gig recently, the band had the usual anti-war visuals and one photo of George Bush with the title, The Face of Evil. It struck Queenie at the time that possibly a photo of Rupert Murdoch would be more appropriate.
EPIC 2014 is a spoof documentary, set in 2014, about the history of the media since 1989. It was created by two graduates of the Poynter Institute for Journalism in Florida. It suggests that the photo at the GIAA gig should be of certain ICT multi-millionaires.
Whatever the case, the opinion promoted by the documentary is that the news is going to become increasingly narrow, shallow, trivial and inaccurate, and increasingly produced by non-media institutions. This is pretty terrifying, and is made even more terrifying by the idea that it is in fact what we want.
