Queenie and Percy are pleased to announce that this is the one hundredth post on Percy's Depressed. In honour of the occasion, of the fact that I have a Japanese friend now (see photo), which I never did before, and in remembrance of the nuclear atrocity that was visited on Japan in the name of freedom sixty years ago, I have written a haiku.
I wrote it on South St on a windy summer's evening. I was on the way into Halifax city for my first night out in my new home. We were going to see KillRadio (an anti-Bush band from LA) in The Attic, the city's most happening live venue. I was very excited. It was the culmination of eight months planning and thinking and travelling.
Unfortunately, Queenie couldn't get into the Attic, because she didn't have a 'scannable ID', whatever that is when it's at home. Her sources tell her Halifax bouncers are not a nice breed.....sigh...
Anyways.....
Wind-tossed trees on South
Heave sibilant summer sighs
But not me tonight
